Good Morning and apologies for cross posting
There are just 4 weeks to go before the start of IEA's Inaugural seminar
on Electronic Document and Records Management Systems - EDRMS: Local
People, Local Knowledge.
This is an exciting time for Record Keeping in Western Australia with
the State Records Office releasing the first part of a proposed new
standard for the promotion of good record keeping in WA Government
Agencies. The Standard "Making and Managing Digital Records (Exposure
Draft) - Part One will be launched on Friday 16th June and we hope you
will be there to join us at this historic juncture.
Jill Jones, Consultant: Recordkeeping Services, of the State Records
Office (SRO) will be sharing her experiences of being involved in the
planning and introduction of the SRO project to manage electronic
documents in a digital environment. This project will enable the SRO to
exploit the functionality of current technologies, while incorporating
recordkeeping practices that will satisfy the legal requirements of
whole-of-government recordkeeping as outlined in the State Records Act
and embrace modern office work practices. The issue of managing large
volumes of emails currently stored on the Department of Culture and the
Arts servers has resulted in this project accelerating in importance.
And Mr John Crowe of the Department of Treasury and Finance: Government
Procurement will explain "How DTF developed a framework to meet
agencies' EDRMS needs". The Department of Treasury and Finance has
recently undertaken a project to assist agencies acquire an EDRMS
solution and associated services. The aim of the project is to provide
agencies with access to a versatile EDRMS package that would provide a
standardised solution across government. The project was undertaken in
collaboration with the State Records Office to assist agencies meet
their records obligations under the Act.
