Starlings
At night, the starlings rustle
almost ready to leave the nest
signal success, parasites
to a brooding, bloody presence
that's seen the death to many
not least the elegant snowy plover
so yes, the starling'll chirp when
a human fibula stands upright
on a sandy beach or be silent
when the long night arrives.
