Hi all. I am back in my little nest on the banks of the Swan. I was extremely happy to have spent time with Roger Day, Jackie Litherland, Joanna Boulter, Robin Hamilton, Patrick MacManus and Janet (and Helen and Michael and Kate and Jo ...) and lots of others in our small band of international poetry lovers. My son's wedding at Auckland Castle went off like an overblown wedding in any castle would. A small country's annual national income was spent on declaring their love. Ho-hum. But it did drag me to England and hence I met so many people - and spent too little time with them. I feel like I have about thirty incomplete conversations tailing off into the ether ... ah, I hope to get back there one day before I lose my marbles or my gait. Of course, our doors are always open here, on the sunny west coast of Australia, for intrepid adventurers.
And now a chorus of kookaburras has just let off a jumbled laugh at humanity, so I really do feel at home.
So, thank you very much for all those who organised readings and for all who provided accommodation and for those who came and listened.
Being the vague person I am, I left my camera at a Welcome Break on a freeway called M-Something - and then magically retrieved it by coach three days later (!) - so I missed the opportunity for photos at a couple of readings. Anyone with photos, I'd love to see them - if you'd like to send them to [log in to unmask] I'd be very grateful. I hope to blog some at http://hispirits.blogspot.com/
Glad to be back on p'etc. And I believe I have missed some shenanigans, upsetting for many. I once left p'etc becoz of a flaming match (back in its youth, as Candice would remember), so glad I wasn't listening.
Regards -
Andrew
