Apologies for the delay in responding to this, Randolph (things have been a
bit hectic round at the Loughborough ranch recently), and may thanks for
your kind comments.

The cover is by my former wife, the artist Mary Byrne. It is (I think) an
amalgam of me at an younger age and the central figure of one of the poems,
the Great Maskelyn, the end result vaguely androgynous (like my given name).
Mary has been very influenced by the painter Paula Rego (one of the few
artists we both admire <g>), and I think this comes out productively in the
cover illustration.
It's also the first illustration, as such, that she's done. Lots of
paintings and drawings of course.
