Can anyone help with this please It is in an old letter of ours.
April 13th 1829
Sir
My son shewed me your letter in which you make a demand of him the sum of
10 £ for taking out his ** Dedimus Potestation** & Fees. As this charge
is much larger than I expected I examined my Acct books to see what I paid
Mr Chaplin the late Clerk of the Peace for taking out my Dedimus
Potestation. It shewd thus "Feb 28 1798 Paid M Aston Chaplin £5 5s 0d for
the Dedimus & £1. -.1. - for the first time of appearing this being at an
adjourned session held at the Cobham Court & at which time two or three
Doctors in Divinity likewise qualified.
I know that this is right because it also appears on this website :-
