Union Futures Award
To mark the launch of the Union Ideas Network, the TUC is calling on
academics and all those interested in the future of the trade union
movement to join a national debate on the future shape of the British
trade union movement.
The TUC is looking for short, original, accessible essays under the
broad theme of 'How can we best build a vibrant, growing trade union
movement, capable of reaching out to, and representing, the next
generation for workers?'
All entries will be featured on the UIN web-site. The TUC will publish
the best and most insightful essays in a special 'Union Futures'
publication in November 2006. In addition, the writer of the winning
essay will receive the first annual 'Union Futures' award at a special
ceremony to be held in Central London.
Academics, journalists, union officers, organisers and activists are all
encouraged to submit entries. Essays should be no more than 2,000 words
long and should be submitted electronically to [log in to unmask] by no
later than September 1 2006. All entries will be acknowledged.
