Senior Health Economists / Health Economic Researchers

RTI Health Solutions (RTI-HS) is a large and rapidly growing independent 
and internationally recognised research organisation providing health care 
consulting and research expertise to optimise decision making for 
pharmaceutical, biotechnology and medical device products across the 
development and marketing lifecycle. 

With a rapidly growing team of over 80 technical research staff, based in 
our European and US offices, RTI-HS provides multidisciplinary project 
expertise in Health Economics, Medical Statistics, Patient Reported 
Outcomes, Health Outcomes and Strategy Development, Epidemiology, Risk 
Management and Pricing and Reimbursement. 

Given the breadth of our client work and flexible management structure RTI-
HS provides an ideal team-based environment within which to further develop 
your career in health outcomes research.

To support our continued business expansion, we are currently looking to 
recruit at a range of levels within our European Health Economics team. 

Our project work typically involves:

~ economic evaluations of clinical trials 
~ demonstration of product value through cost effectiveness and model-based 
evaluations
~ budget impact analyses
~ preparation of economic and product value strategy dossiers 
~ full support of reimbursement and approval processes
~ evidence-based and systematic literature reviews
~ meta-analyses and synthesis of clinical data
~ burden-of-illness studies


Senior Health Economist

In a project management post the successful candidate would be expected to 
play a key role, as part of a dynamic international team of health economic 
researchers, in building and developing our existing client base and 
project portfolio. You will have already demonstrated excellent technical, 
interpersonal and communication skills, preferably within a consultancy-
based or industry environment, and would be expected to: 

~ proactively build and manage a portfolio of active client-based project 
work
~ independently deliver high-quality scientific project deliverables to 
tight timescales
~ develop formal proposals based on an assessment of clients’ individual 
requirements
~ identify and assess opportunities to evaluate and demonstrate product 
value
~ develop and maintain strong professional contacts and networks

Successful senior candidates would also be expected to:

~ actively support the strategic development and growth of the Health 
Economic group
~ contribute to the professional development and mentorship of our research 
staff
~ continue to build and develop a scientific and professional profile 
through publication and presentation at international conferences

Candidates should have:

~ a postgraduate qualification in Health Economics, Operational Research or 
a relevant scientific or medical discipline OR have a relevant first degree 
and substantial experience in health economics research
~ at least 4 years of experience in leading health economic projects
~ a record of peer-reviewed publication and/or conference presentation
~ the ability and technical skills to lead modelling-based projects (for 
example Markov transition, decision-tree, and discrete-event simulation 
models and the application of probabilistic sensitivity analysis techniques)

Ideally candidates should also be able to demonstrate:

~ a proven track record acting as a key contact with external commissioners 
of research projects
~ experience and working knowledge of European health care systems 
~ involvement in supporting submissions to European reimbursement and 
regulatory agencies, such as NICE and SMC 

In addition to applicants for posts based in our office in Manchester, UK 
we would also be particularly interested to hear from applicants who may 
wish to retain or return to a physical base in Continental Europe.


Health Economic Researcher

Successful candidates would be expected to play a key role in supporting a 
range of health economic projects, including the development of economic 
and cost-effectiveness modelling/analyses. 

You would be expected to work in partnership with senior Health Economist 
project managers to: 

~ deliver high-quality scientific project deliverables (reports, models, 
presentations and manuscripts) to agreed timelines and budgets
~ assist in developing proposals
~ work closely with clinical advisors during projects   
~ continue to build your scientific profile through publication and/or 
conference presentation

Candidates should have:

~ a good degree / postgraduate qualification in a relevant scientific or 
medical discipline (ideally health economics, economics, operational 
research, or a relevant scientific or medical discipline)
~ excellent interpersonal and English-language written skills
~ strong numeric skills
~ a clear and committed team-based attitude to project work and career 
aspirations

Ideally candidates should also be able to demonstrate:

~ at least 2 years relevant experience in the application of health 
economic or modeling techniques to support economic evaluations
~ experience within the industry or agency sector and/or experience of 
supporting or evaluating HTA submissions
~ a record of peer-reviewed publication and conference presentation.
