CALL FOR PARTICIPATION AND PAPERS
=================================

WORKSHOP ON SPACE SYNTAX AND SPATIAL COGNITION

http://www.space.bartlett.ucl.ac.uk/sc06/

To be held at Spatial Cognition '06, 24-28 September 2006
Universität Bremen, Germany
http://www.sfbtr8.uni-bremen.de/SC06/

Contributions are invited of either short papers (2000 words) or long papers (7000 words) that
link space syntax and spatial cognition.

Topics may include but are not limited to:

* How can the cognitive processes of individual users be addressed by space syntax?
* How should space syntax methods be adapted to make the transition from the social/group level
to individual cognition?
* Does space syntax help us to better understand the cognitive import of physical properties of
the environment like complexity, visibility, legibility, intelligibility?
* What is the correspondence between Space Syntax measures and cognitive processes?
* Can we map concepts such as "intelligibility" to cognitive processes or human memory?
* How can network effects be separated from psychological effects?
* Can spatial cognition reveal the "non-discursive" features of the design process?

Please use the Springer LNCS format for your submission. Papers should be emailed in PDF format
to Christoph Hölscher (hoelsch [at] cognition.uni-freiburg.de). Please do *not* include author
information on the paper, and instead supply your contact details separately in your email.

Papers will be refereed by the workshop programme committee below, and published as an SFB/
TR 8 monograph. In addition, there is a possibility of a special issue journal publication depending
on the quality of the submissions.

Participants who do not wish to present are asked to send in short position papers/statements of
interest.
