The Faculty of Media of the Bauhaus-University Weimar, CSCW Group,
invites applications for a position opening on 1 August 2006 of a
Research Assistant/PhD Position (German tariff scale IIa BAT-O)
(Ref.: M/AP-08/06).
In the CSCW Group we develop, implement, and evaluate concepts and
system for the support of cooperative work, cooperative learning, and
social interaction. In particular, we develop distributed, ubiquitous
platforms for the context-based and location-independent support of
cooperation in groups.
Successful candidates will, therefore, work in the areas
Computer-Supported Cooperative Work (CSCW), Human-Computer
Interaction (HCI), and in particular Mobile and Ubiquitous Computing.
Assistants at the Bauhaus-University Weimar are paid employees of the
university, who pursue a Ph.D. and participate in the research,
teaching and other activities of the CSCW group.
We wish: a Master degree in Computer Science or related areas as a
prerequisite; experience in the areas of CSCW, HCI, Mobile and
Ubiquitous Computing as a prerequisite; experience with programming
(esp. Java) as a prerequisite; Mac OS X knowledge is bonus; and good
command of English (and willingness to learn German).
We offer: a salary according to German tariff scale IIa BAT-O,
full-time (i.e. Euro 2000+ p.m. depending on age and education);
opportunity for further scientific qualification / Ph.D.; in an
interdisciplinary, dynamic, growing work environment.
The position is currently guaranteed for two years, but can be
further extended up to a total of six years. Part-time employment is
possible.
