I agree with Maureen that these figures can vary quite widely, it may be
more useful to see what the email usage of your organisation has been doing
over a period of time.
I have, however come across a useful article from the US which although,
dealing with email as a marketing tool also has some useful information in

So if you compare the information in this article and the one in RLG
Diginews, email volume appears to have decreased! This demonstrates
quite well my feeling that reliable statistics of this sort are hard to
come by.
