You are invited to attend: Happily Ever After.?
April 22nd 2006
London Metropolitan University
A day of performance, discussion and celebration
hosted by The Facility: Performance as Research at
London Metropolitan University.
The Facility's second symposium will explore the place
and role of narrative in performance within modernism,
postmodernism and trans-modernism. There is a
constantly emerging interest in performance narratives
within both the performance industry and academia. In
recent years both scholars and practitioners have
frequently addressed issues relating to the function,
role, value and place of narratives within
performance/theatre. This has raised a number of
issues and questions for debate. Happily Ever After.?
hopes to introduce, investigate and explore some of
these questions through hosting diverse performance
based responses, discussions and talks. Work will
include dance, theatre, multi-media work, live art and
music.
All researchers are both academics and practitioners
of note. The work will be dynamic, ground breaking and
exploratory. By framing the work within an academic
context and providing space for discussion The
Facility hopes to move the discussion about narrative
forward.
Researchers include: Pete Brooks, Deborah Levy, Sean
Tuan John, Jacek Scarso, Jesse Schwenk, Helen
Spackman, Andrew Quick
