Dear all,

Please see two job vacancies based with us in Warrington. I'd be really
grateful if you could forward them on to anyone who you think might be
interested. Closing date is next Tuesday 18th April.

Thanks,

Claire

Museums, Libraries and Archives North West

Development Officer (Renaissance) - Two Posts

Grade: PO 1 - 2, points 33-37 (£25,437 - £28,179)

Fixed term contract until 31 March 2008 or secondment

opportunity

Based in Warrington

MLA North West is the regional strategic development

agency for the museums, libraries and archives sector

in the North West of England. We share the vision

that museums, libraries and archives connect people to

knowledge and information, creativity and inspiration.

We aim to maximise the contribution of museums,

libraries and archives to the North West region, and

its distinctive cultural, social, educational and

economic life and identity.

MLA North West provides strategic leadership,

advocacy, information and support, raising the profile

of museums, libraries and archives, building knowledge

about the sector and developing diverse audiences.

These posts have been developed in partnership with

and are funded by the North West Hub. They are

designed to contribute to the delivery of the

Renaissance in the Regions vision which aims to

increase participation by developing world class and

sustainable museums. The posts will be guided by the

Museum Association's Collections for the Future report

which has identified how museum collections can best

serve the needs of museum users in the future.

We are now seeking two experienced and energetic

professionals to work in partnership with a range of

key bodies, to develop innovative programmes which

will increase access to and engagement with

collections, actively develop dynamic collections and

strengthen the museum sector. This will be delivered

across the North West region through supporting

professional networks, developing mapping and research

activity, promoting opportunities for collaborative

working, developing new ways of working, identifying

and disseminating best practice in collections care

and interpretation and focussing on longer term

sustainability issues.

Successful candidates will have worked in the museum

and heritage sector for at least five years. You will

have extensive experience of professional practice,

and demonstrate a good knowledge of national policies

and issues. In addition, you will have worked with a

wide variety of organisations and people, and possess

excellent communication skills, team working and

interpersonal skills.

MLA North West forms part of a network of regional

agencies in the nine English regions, funded by the

Department for Culture Media and Sport (DCMS) via the

Museums, Libraries and Archives Council (MLA).

Application form and support pack are downloadable

from our website www.mlanorthwest.org.uk <http://www.mlanorthwest.org.uk/>

or alternatively to request an application form and

support pack, please contact Jackie Fletcher on 01925

625050 or e-mail [log in to unmask]

Please note we do not accept CVs.

For an informal discussion about the post, please

contact:

Claire McDade, Museum Development Officer on 01925

The closing date for this post is 18 April 2006

Interviews will be held in Warrington on 3 May 2006
