italian-studies: Scholarly discussions in any field of Italian studies

It is now possible to send applications for the 2006 edition of Synapsis,
European School for Comparative Studies, jointly sponsored by the
Universities of Bologna and Siena. As every year, the activities will take
the form of a week long residential course, that will be held at the Certosa
di Pontignano (Siena) from Monday, September 18th to Monday, September 25th.
This year's topic is "Exile".
Morning lectures will be held by:
Piero Boitani (Rome "La Sapienza", in English); Helena Buescu (Lisbon, in
English); Gioachino Chiarini (Siena, in Italian); Theo D'Haen (Leuven, in
English); Anna Iuso (Rome "La Sapienza", in French); Patrizia Lombardo
(Geneve, in English); Antonio Melis (Siena, in Spanish); Itala Vivan (Milan,
in English); Hayden White (Santa Cruz and Stanford, in English).
Seminars will be held by:
Gillian Beer (Cambridge, in English); Roberto Bigazzi (Siena, in Italian);
Marc Cerisuelo (Paris VII, in French); Maria DiBattista (Princeton, in
English);
Jose M. Gonzalez and Stella Wittenberg (Madrid, in Spanish); Melania
Mazzucco (Rome, in Italian); Jurgen Wertheimer (Tubingen, in German).

Film Screenings organized by Anna Masecchia.
