Hi Lisa
There are a couple of self-administered scales in the NFER-NELSON Child
Psychology Portfolio which are aimed at parents: the Family Support
Scale developed by Dunst, Jenkins and Trivette (1984) which is based on
Bronfenbrenner's ecological model of social networks (20 items asking
for ratings of "helpfulness" of particular sources of support, eg my
parents, my relatives, social groups, professional helpers); and the
Social Support Resources Scale (Vaux and Harrison, 1985) which is based
on social network theory (whatever that is) and which is much more
lengthy.
If you can get hold of a copy of the portfolio you can have a look at
both of them.
If you want more info then give me a ring on 0121 243 2036.
Cheers
Carl

Subject: [COMMUNITYPSYCHUK] measure of social support
Hello
I've been asked to advise/help with an evaluation of an arts
project aimed at improving social support/reducing social
isolation. I'm wondering whether anyone on the list knows
of any measures that could be used as pre & post measures
with a group of adults? and that would preferably only take
a few minutes to complete
I'd be grateful for any info or ideas
Thanks,
Lisa
