See message below. So in addition to all the possible screw-ups with the
lib (noted by Bruce Ray), there is also a bloody typo in installCode.py,
and line 690 should be:
writeEnvString(fp, 'TK_LIBRARY', '%s/tk%s' % (tk_lib_path,
tcltk_version), useExport)
not
writeEnvString(fp, 'TK_LIBRARY', '%s/tcl%s' % (tk_lib_path,
tcltk_version), useExport)
Perhaps hard to spot the difference but that first "tcl" should be "tk".
(On many computers the system is clever enough to pick up all these things
without those settings, and in particular on my computers, which is why
I didn't spot this although I did manage to look at that script without
spotting the typo.)
I hadn't intended to put the #! thing at the top but perhaps it should be
there.
I am not sure about the more general point about why these settings might
screw things up with fonts. So if other people are having these problems
then edit bin/analysis and comment out the settings (or perhaps at least
TCL_LIBRARY and TK_LIBRARY) and do things the way 1.0.9 did (i.e. use the
settings from .cshrc or whatever.) The 1.0.10 way was supposed to save
the user from having to set things themselves, but if it makes things
worse then that is not good. If anyone else observes funny behaviour let
me know, and we might just have to revert to the 1.0.9 way. But we
switched to the new way because when we were going around helping people
with installations we were doing it this way.

Subject: Re: Analysis problem
I have just tried to insal 1.0.10 and it seems to not work. I have had no
problems installing 1.0.9 Firstly bin/analysis lacks #!/bin/tcsh on the
top line and the tk assigment points to the tcl files not the tk ones
Secondly when I adjust these I then get meaningless characters rather than
sensible words in the GUI interface menus. I did not reinstall tcl tk mesa
or python from 1.09 have any of these changes Best wishes Nick -- Dr
