EPSRC funded PhD position available
The Centre for Requirements and Foundations (CRF) in the Software Engineering Group http://www.softeng.ox.ac.uk/crf/ is offering a fully funded PhD position in Oxford University Computing Laboratory.
One of the aims of the CRF is to develop and assess novel approaches to understanding requirements that take account of social context as well as advanced technology. The successful candidate will be working on identifying and assessing existing and novel techniques and methods for determining and communicating Usability in e-Science projects. The successful candidate will be working closely with researchers from the Oxford e-Research Centre http://e-science.ox.ac.uk/, the Oxford Internet Institute http://www.oii.ox.ac.uk/ and the Intelligence, Agents and Multimedia Group at the University of Southampton, on an EPSRC funded project entitled 'Embedding e-Science Applications - Designing and Managing for Usability'. The methods and approaches investigated for Usability will be considered within the initial framework developed by the project for managing the development of e-Science applications.

The studentship is fully funded (at EU fees level - overseas candidates will need supplementary funding) for three years from October 2006. There is also some provision for travel to conferences.
