Applications are invited from PhD (or an equivalent research degree) students and junior researchers in European, China and USA higher education institutions and research centres for 2006 Postgraduate Research Summer School - China and Globalisation in Historical Perspective. Applicants must have good command of English (the language of instruction) and Chinese. You should study or research in the areas:
* modern and contemporary Chinese history (the word 'modern' here designates the period after 1850);
* Chinese politics and economies;
* society and culture of China.
The programme of the 2006 Summer School consists of
* introduction to Chinese history archives and resources for the study of modern and contemporary China;
* China's reaction to and interaction with modernity, colonial and post-colonial experiences, world system and the 'new world order';
* urbanisation process in China since 1920;
* visit to No.2 Historical Archive in Nanjing and Urban Development Zone near Nanjing city.
