The inspiration of the deep fried Mars bars was brought to the New World by the Vikings. Years before Columbus... and the recipe (although the Vikings used the Snickers bar) is on the third tablet of the Kensington Runestone and is displayed each year here at the State Fair in the same vast hall that contains our great butter sculptures. Robert Bly has written several poems about all this. Argh.
I'll stick with the good old American treat, a hot fudge sundae.
It's said that most cultures love the combo of fried fat and flour (or
fat/flour/sugar). Americans' favorite desserts, tho, are ice cream and
chocolates, in that order.

The deep-fried mars bar in batter is, without doubt, Scotlands finest
export. Possibly. I've also heard of deep-fried pizzas as well. Only
exceeded by a russian delicacy, pig-fat in chocolate, yum.
