Have failed to get into this thing, so could you pass on please that Sunday
April 2's "unfocussed purple thing" is a herbaceous plant called Honesty,
botanical name Lunaria. My grandfather waged a perpetual battle against its
spread.
As for the white starry one, I know this perfectly well, but think I can
place it? When we were children we called it Star of Bethlehem. Hang on,
let's look it up under that name .... Yes, here we are, Ornithogalum.
Obviously it's a mistake to assume one's plant book only speaks Latin.
Common names here, depending on variety, are Star of Bethlehem or
Chincherinchee -- what a lovely word!
My camellia has the first flower of the year half open, which with all my
miniature daffodils makes me very happy. (It doesn't take much.)
