We do not run a VLE, students have access (read only) to the CMS... you
can 'subscribe' to the areas you want hence each student has a
personalised screen with access to the appropriate subjects.

When the materials are to be used with learners do they remain in the
CMS, or are they ported into the VLE?

Rather than a VLE per se, we are using a content management system. A
lot of the materials are things that have been previously prepared by
subject teachers as Word, Power Point, etc. for use in lessons... the
CMS is providing a nice front-end, with indexing, useful links and so
on. For several departments I have given them a 'seed' of pages set up
to mimic their course structure and/or the sequence in which they wish
to deliver material, based on a discussion with them, then show them how
to add materials and they are usually happy to get on with populating it
for themselves.

What method do list members currently use to populate their VLE with
content?
Do you use pre-created content, and if so what do you use? How
relevant/up to date are the materials, how easy are they to use?
Thanks in advance,
Paul Williams.
