Agreed, I'd hoped we could assume that developers and end-users with
special requirements would typically do option 2) or use the export dist
tarballs, but clearly that's not working out and building the tree always
seems problematic.
Maybe the best way to avoid rpath issues is to stop using it for release
builds. Anyone know if that is possible (libtool being the main culprit,
although from recent experience the Tcl crowd play with this too)?
