Free one day Event for Higher Education: Selecting an Electronic Records
Management System
Is your institution in the process of considering whether to procure an
Electronic Records Management System, or wishing to upgrade what you
currently have? If so, this free one-day workshop and supplier showcase,
offered by Lancaster University in co-operation with the JISC, will have
much to offer.
The event will be held on Wednesday 10th May 2006 starting at 10.30pm
and closing by 4.30pm. The detailed scheduled is being finished, but the
intention is to have a few key speakers in the morning. These will
include Stephen Bailey from the JISC who will take a wry but
well-informed look at electronic records management, what it can mean in
practice and what the alternatives might be, and Tony Hindley of Cimtech
with his over-view of the current marketplace.
Over lunch there will be an opportunity to speak to vendors approved by
the National Archive who will be exhibiting their products. During the
afternoon there will be breakout sessions, led by particular vendors, as
well as the opportunity to continue your initial conversations with
those that most interest you.
We are initially limiting places to 3 delegates per institution, and we
should be glad if you could give an indication of initial interest by

We anticipate a highly successful day at which records managers and
other information professionals involved in the development and
procurement of electronic records management systems in higher education
can have their questions answered candidly by experts in the field, as
well as having the opportunity to talk with fellow managers at other
institutions who have faced or are facing similar policy issues. We are
grateful to the JISC for the assistance generously given and the vendors
for making the day viable. Lancaster is fortunate in having excellent
rail and motor transport links. For more information see:
