Has anyone else seen this - the Emmerson report to the ALG on joint storage
has been delivered.
"20. The report makes two recommendations:
1. To undertake more detailed feasibility study to collect and assess
more detailed volume and activity data and, therefore, the specific costs
and benefits to a group of neighbouring boroughs of developing either:
• A joint records storage facility or;
• A detailed specification for a joint corporate commercial records
storage operation to be used as a template for the development of a formal
procurement tender.
2. To develop a master business classification scheme and file plan
and corporate retention schedules for London boroughs that are both more
comprehensive, specific and directly useable than the existing public
guidelines. This would be developed within a single authority and then
validated by a control group of other boroughs. The costs would be shared
by all boroughs. These developments would enable a more rapid development
of Electronic Records and Document Management systems, as well as making a
major, but low cost, improvement in the management of records in all London
boroughs."
