This is somewhat tangental, but:
Went to hear/see Daniel Dennett on Tuesday, speaking to the topic: 'Religion
as a natural phenomenon'. At no point did he offer a definition of
'religion'.
Is god (or are gods) necessary for religion to take place, or can one be
religious without?
Apropos Doug's remark, I have no problem at all with the idea of the poet
(or painter or composer, for e.g.) as technologist -- the category of
technology seems to sit uncomfortably between the natural sciences and the
humanities.
