And that's what 'we' (NeWest Press), for example, do. I suspect small
presses, which usually dont make so much money with all those 'best
sellers', probably offer better deals. On the other hand, the Stephen
Kings of he world can pretty much make their own contracts, & seem to
almost control the publishers.
As to the loss of editors (or even copy editors, as far too many typos
etc demonstrate), well, maybe they should have 'outsourced' to India
rather than just giving them all the pink slip <ha>....?
