Sorry - I was wrong about the difference between the Pentium and the
Athlon: it appears that there was a parameter difference in the two
cases I was comparing: when I corrected for that, both systems give
the same out-of-memory error. In other words, IT IS NOT OX's
PROBLEM. Apologies for the false alarm.
(There's still a mystery why changing a parameter makes such a
difference, since as far as I can tell it is not affecting the size
of the arrays being generated, but at least I know now what to look for).
