In the aftermath of the refugee protest in Cairo, there is an increased and
urgent need for self-funded interns to work with our psycho-social team at
AMERA. AMERA is a legal aid NGO in Egypt that also provides psycho-social
support for our clients.
We require persons with a background in mental health and social work and
experience working in human rights and/or with refugees and asylum seekers in
a social work capacity. The applicant should have a minimum of one year of
experience providing social work services to refugees and asylum seekers.
We also need a Mental Health Therapist with a Masters degree in psychology or
a related field or an MD in psychiatry. The applicant may also be in the
process of completing such a degree.
Please send a cover letter, confirming that you can start on 28th May 2006 and
are able to financially support yourself for no less than six months in Cairo,
a curriculum vitae, and email addresses for three referees. Applications
accepted until 15 April. Training/orientation will begin on 28 May 2006.
