Dear Jenny
You are tottally correct and this is what others and I are saying within the
disabled people's, neurodiversity, survivors, independent and inclusive
movements.
Did you know that up to 70% of prisoners have a 'neurodiverse' impiarments
and I bet they all was not given the right to a fair hearing under Article 6
HRA 1998 and also that there needs are not being catered for within the
psrison system. About those who are experiencing mental ill health/distress
too?
You may want to speak with my friend and colleague on this issue. His name
is Adrian Whyatt, Co Chair, Developmental Adult Neurodiverse
Association(DANDA) and he's pro-actively involved in other disabled
people(disability) organisations, including NAS, Headway, RADAR etc.
Adrian and I are setting up a 'working group' with Her Majesty's Court
Service, Law Society, BAR Council and Legal Service Ombudsman and
Parliamentary Ombudsman with various individuals and orgainisation,
including BCODP, DANDA NCIL and RADAR etc to address these issues around
'disabled people and justice' in the Courts, under DDA 1995 and DDA 2005 and
HRA 1998 and ECHR 1950.
Adrian is co-ordinating his 'working-group', if you or anyone else is
interested in joining us. Adrian can be emailed at:- [log in to unmask]
