BOOK NOW FOR THE WGSG READING WEEKEND - BOOKING DEADLINE Tuesday 18th April
2006
WGSG Reading weekend has been booked for 5-7 May 2006 at Hebden House,
Hebden Bridge (see www.hebden-house.co.uk).
The full cost of the weekend is £85, this includes full board from Friday
evening until Sunday lunchtime and the cost of copying the readings. The
cost for postgraduates/unwaged (subsidised by RGS-IBG and the WGSG) is £43.
The weekend will begin at 6pm with the evening meal on Friday and end after
lunch (1.30pm) on Sunday. The nearest train station is Hebden Bridge. Maps
will be sent out with receipts once bookings have been made. Readings will
be posted to participants approximately 2 weeks before the weekend. The
readings are organised around the following themes: emotional geographies,
sexualities, subjectivity and the environment, neo-liberal economic
restructuring and gender. We also hope to read about/experience the Hebden
Bridge Sculpture Trail.
To those who have not been before - the WGSG reading weekend is a relaxed
opportunity to network and chill out with others in the WGSG enjoying food
and wine, a few hearty country walks, and a chance to develop and share
ideas stimulated by some readings which are pre-circulated. Previous
weekends have provided the catalyst to all sorts of new initiatives
including 'Feminist Geographies' and the recent CD 'Geography and Gender
reconsidered'.
The weekend is open to both members and non-members of WGSG, although
hopefully non-members will consider joining after the WGSG since associate
membership costs only £5 and does not require membership of the RGS-IBG.
Please find attached a booking form. Please return to Claire Dwyer,
Department of Geography, University College London, 26 Bedford Way, London,
WC1H OAP by Tuesday 18th April 2006 with payment.
Contact Claire if you have any special requirements. Although we have not
formally organised childcare it may be possible to accommodate children if
required. If you need to bring your children with you let me know and I
will see what we can arrange in terms of accommodation and childcare.
