Job Description
The Department is one of the largest in the country, with over 900 students, and delivers
a very successful undergraduate and postgraduate programme. This thriving Department has
developed a vigorous outward looking philosophy, maintaining close links with a variety of
external organisations, and gained a reputation as a centre of excellence. The Department
values research highly and was awarded a grade 4 in the most recent RAE exercise. It
expects to improve this in 2008.
We are seeking to appoint someone whose teaching can contribute to the UNIGIS
postgraduate programme and whose research interests are within socio-economic applications
of GIS (e.g. health) or organisational applications of GIS, and complement those of staff
in the Department. Candidates should possess a PhD and have a substantive postdoctoral
career. They should have an excellent track record in research, with publications and
ideally external funding to demonstrate this.
