Dear all,
fyi, I am presenting another BBC radio programme on a contemporary archaeology
theme this Friday, 10th March, 8.20pm, on BBC Radio 3 (it's the evening concert
interval programme, and will be online for a week afterwards).
It's called "Yeats in Bits" and looks at the way WB Yeats was influenced by
ancient and 20th century mosaics. It includes interviews with the
Roman art scholar, Dr.Martin Henig, and a contemporary mosaic-maker in
Oxfordshire. Also readings of "Byzantium" and "Sailing to Byzantium", the poems
inspired by Yeats's visits to Byzantine mosaics in Ravenna and Sicily.
