--- Apologies for cross postings ---

German Week – 20.10 – 28.10.2006

Three major meetings and associated cultural events in connection with
Germany are to be held in Cambridge in the period 20.10 – 28.10.2006.
Humboldtianer are invited to attend all or a selection of the activities
of the week, including of course our annual meeting. It is possible the
expenses for attending can be met by the AvH Foundation. As the
programme becomes more finalised, it will appear on the UK AvH
Association Website (http://www.avh.org.uk) and further notices will
follow by email.

At the heart of the week are two days (M & Tu, 23rd & 24th ) of talks
about political issues and university reform in Germany with prominent
speakers from German public life (Biedenkopf, Schuette, Draeger, von
Walser, . . .). The AvH Association meeting will be on the Wednesday
(25th). There is an AvH Kolleg on the theme of Feroics on the Thu, Fri
& Sa (am). Associated cultural events include concerts, seminars on
Schiller and Wittigenstein, and films on the preceding Fri, Sa & Su.
During the week there will be dinners and receptions.

Help with arranging B&B accommodation will be available.

Ekhard Salje, Mark Warner
