Hey,
In Liverpool there is reasonably strong membership- about 800 members... so
hoping for a good turn out tomorrow (on the picket lines that is!!)...the
university was pretty much dead last time...1/365ths in terms of the pay
docking - so seeking to relocate to the North East fairly swiftly- to save
that extra 1/105th!
In terms of the different tactics - the decision by the AUT and NATFHE to
adopt different interpretations of the assessment boycott doesn't seem v
bright... ie the AUT says members should not set exams or other assessments
- NATFHE says members should set exams but not mark them... This has left
the AUT open to criticism for being unreasonable, hardline etc- somewhat
paradoxically - hence some fairly cutting editorials in the Times Higher
this week- managing to say NATFHE were responsible and the AUT weren't.
Though the Times Higher is not necessarily the first place to look for
support- might have been a good idea to have agreed on the same
interpretation of the assessment boycott... possibly...
Anyway hopefully there'll be some swift movement on the part of
UCEA...(!?????)
