ESDS joins ESRC Social Science Week
The Economic and Social Data Service (ESDS) is holding two events as
part of Social Science Week - one on international comparative micro
data sources and the other on best practices in sharing data.
'Exploring the potential: international comparative micro data sources',
on 14 March, is a one day conference that aims to provide an
introduction to international micro data sources, including comparative
survey data, that are mostly available on a free basis to UK users
through ESDS. The day will cover introductions to the most popular
international data series and provide exemplars of interesting ways in
which the data can be used.
'Best practices in sharing data', on 17 March 2006, is a one day
conference that brings together a range of natural and social science
research communities to discuss data sharing policies and initiatives.
Speakers from the Research Councils and successful online data access
services will provide an insight into achievements and opportunities.
ESDS will be launching its range of best practice guides on key aspects
of sharing and management prepared for the Medical Research Council
(MRC) and for the large scale cross-council Rural Economy and Land Use
Programme
