AHRC BRITTEN THEMATIC CATALOGUE PROJECT
Two posts: Full time, 3 year fixed-term until May 2009
The University of East Anglia (UEA) has gained funding under the AHRC
Resource Enhancement Scheme for an innovative and exciting project to
develop a thematic catalogue of the works of Benjamin Britten as a web
resource, using the archival sources at the Britten-Pears Library in
Aldeburgh, Suffolk. We are now seeking to appoint two posts to carry this
project forward.

with consultants on the technical development of the databases and web
interfaces. You will be responsible for the cataloguing of sources,
liaison with other institutions and the dissemination of the project
through teaching at the School of Music at UEA and conference
opportunities. You will have a doctoral qualification in music, a
knowledge of and enthusiasm for the music of Britten, and experience and
knowledge of music cataloguing and database management. A high level of
computer literacy is essential, as are good communication skills, a keen
interest in teaching, a high standard of accuracy and the ability to both
to work independently and to supervise others.
Cataloguer
Ref: SC1139

A full time Cataloguer is required to work on providing records for
manuscript and other materials, working within agreed standards and
reporting to the Research Officer. This post will also involve direct
input into a database of related documentary materials. You should have a
good honours degree in music, with some knowledge of the works of Britten
an asset. Experience of cataloguing music is essential as are computer
literacy, high levels of accuracy and attention to detail.
Both posts will be based at the Britten-Pears Library, but will involve
some time at the University of East Anglia campus in Norwich.
