Miners were never renowned for paying for anything that they could get for
nothing.
As for the issue of illumination.
After spending 17 years working underground I am of the opinion that the
more light the better.
There is the less chance of nipping your fingers when you are hammering a
prop and cap end home if you can see what you are doing.
