Ethnic differences in attitudes to organ transplantation: Implications for public policy
Applications are invited for a Post Doctoral Research Associate to work with Dr Anthony Warrens, Dr Sonia Saxena and Dr Josip Car to study the ethnic differences in attitudes to organ transplantation and their implications for public policy. The willingness to donate organs for transplantation, as well as the need for and acceptance of organ transplantation, is related to ethnicity. This project aims to examine why the percentage of organ donors is lower in minority ethnic groups in the UK than the general population and identify how this could be improved.
The successful candidate will take responsibility for securing the necessary approvals to undertake the work, recruiting participants, conducting interviews, organising and leading focus group discussions, handling, transcribing and analysing data as well as preparing reports for steering group meetings and publication. Data collection will take place around London so some short distance travel will be necessary.
You will have a degree in a relevant discipline, a postgraduate qualification in research methods and a track record of either securing research grant income and/or publications in peer-reviewed journals. The ability to communicate in one or more of Urdu, Punjabi, Hindi or Sylheti would be an advantage.
For informal enquiries, please contact Dr Anthony Warrens ([log in to unmask] <mailto:[log in to unmask]> ).
This post is fixed term for two years and is based at the Hammersmith Campus located in East Acton.
This project is funded by Kidney Research UK with a grant from the Big Lottery Fund.
