Second Call for papers : Deadline 1st March 2006
Environmental and Industrial Geophysics Group (EIGG) of the Geological
Society present:
“Hydrology and Geophysics”
A one-day event at Keele University Staffordshire, UK. Wednesday April
12, 2006.
http://www.keele.ac.uk/research/epsam/conferences/hydrology-and-geophysics/
Groundwater investigations frequently employ geophysical surveys to
provide non-invasive information on the subsurface distribution and
condition of a water resource. The use of geophysical survey
techniques, frequently integrated with numerical modelling, has
increased greatly in recent years with a notable extension of scope into
3D and temporal 4D studies. The assessment of water resource
availability has been assisted by the application of numerous
geophysical techniques, most notably electrical resistivity tomography
(ERT), ground penetrating radar (GPR) and ground conductivity.
Geophysics has also been used widely to investigate the presence and
extent of contaminants within groundwater systems.
This one-day event aims to showcase recent developments and good
practice in field-related investigative techniques, groundwater
behaviour modelling and the determination of hydro-geological
characteristics through the study of geophysical properties.
Oral and poster presentations concerning all applications of geophysical
techniques are welcomed, embracing both the above-surface and down-hole
environments. Presentations are invited from industry, governmental and
academic research personnel including latest technologies, case-studies
and postgraduate-related research.
An award will be presented to the best student presentation.
