The Computer Engineering and Networks Laboratory (TIK) at the
ETH Zurich, Switzerland, invites applications for a challenging
position as a full-time
PhD Student / Research and Teaching Assistant
in the area of randomized search algorithms for multiobjective
optimization.
Project description:
The research focuses on randomized optimization methods and in
particular on biologically inspired techniques such as evolutionary
algorithms. In this context, you will be investigating and
developing novel methods for multiobjective optimization that will
be used for the analysis of biological systems as well as for the
design of complex computer networks.
The position is embedded into an interdisciplinary project at
ETH Zurich that will be carried out in cooperation with the
group of Prof. K. Deb at IIT Kanpur, India. ETH Zurich offers

Responsibilities:
The PhD position is available immediatly for a duration of three
years and includes research, teaching, and doctoral coursework.

Qualifications:
The position requires a Master's degree (or equivalent) in Computer
Science, Electrical Engineering, or related areas. Proficiency in
English, strong team spirit, social skills, independence and a high
level of motivation for demanding research work in an
interdisciplinary environment represent further core qualifications.
