Quickly, I liked two things about the film:
It had an insiders' view of disability--good, bad, indifferent. I
learned something about the sport, the individuals who play it, and
another perspective on disability community.
Every critic that I read reported that it was a sports movie that had
disabled players. I did a little Internet checking and found 10-12
reviews. For once, they saw the disabled people as complex
individuals doing and being who they are. Not in spite of their
disability or as symbols, but people who were using the tools they
had available to compete and often be jerks. As far as I know this is
a first for critics.
