'Amended Email':- Sheffield Welfare Action Network Protest on Saturday!!
I went to the first SWAN protest in Sheffield on Saturday. It cost me nearly
£30 to travel from Bridlington to Sheffield by train and that is nearly all
my disability welfare benefits taken up in one trip. It's only £25 to get
to London KingsX with these advanced saver tickets. So why is it more
expensive to travel from E.Yorksdhire to S.Yorkshire by train?
Anyway, There was not a big turn-out at all at this protest by disabled
people and their allies. Mike Higgins and Linda was there and also Janet
Taylor and her friend from DANDA from Manchester.
I would be interested to hear all there veiws on this protest.
The media was there and I spoke about the history of the disabled people's
movement and about DAN too.
I feel very angry to see that the where no allies from the 'left-wing'
political parties supporting this cause and when I arrived at Sheffield Town
Hall at 12.30pm there was the SWP and RESPECT doing Anti War protest and
also I was given a leaflet by a Palestine protest group about the unlawful
'wall' being built in Isarel.
I asked some individauls from the SWP and RESPECT if they was supporting the
SWAN protest and they said they would be joining our Incapacity Benefits
Reforms protest, but when everyone
from SWAN arrived, then the SWP and RESPECT disappeared. Can anyone tell me
why?
Anyway, I would like to thanks all those who turned-out on Saturday in
Sheffield, including the 'GREEN' party. Thanks for all your efforts and for
Dave and other within SWAN for organising and doing someting and making
things happen.
I hope to keep in touch with you all in the future.
I did get to do an interview with a magazine called 'FREEDOM', who ever they
are?
SWAN is a non-political group, but does allie with other groups.
I will state that these incapacity reforms will impact on all disabled
people and we all need to get our 'voices' across with our allies within the
disabled, survivors, independent and inclusive living movements and give our
full backing and support to SWAN.
I am not political on the left(far) or right(far) and have 'no-allegiance'
to any 'political party', or 'groups' in ther UK and globally and I am just
an 'independent' neurodiverse disabled person who is concerned about the
continued basic human and civil rights abuses and a violations in the UK and
globally that disabled peole are experiencing on a daily basis, in which
I've had daily experiences of these abuses myself as a neurodiverse disabled
person locally in the East Riding of Yorkshire and Hull localities and also
nationally too by all public-bodies.
I will continue to 'protest' and 'focus' all my energies within the
disabled, survivors, independent and inclusive living movements on issues
like this one.
'Our' voices are usually on the 'fringes' of society and the issues that
impact on 'us' all should be a concern to all humanity and be a more
'central-concern' to all Socities and cultures in the UK and global world,
because any human being who may become 'incapacitated' within their
lifecourse, then they will experience themselves the daily 'abuses' by rest
of society, public bodies and governments and then they will know how we
feel. This includes all those political parties who are trying to 'exclude'
the disabled people's movement 'voices' too, especially also all the
'centre(ist)' mainstream' political parties and them from the left(far) and
right(far) of the political spectrum.
So where do 'disabled people get the 'voices' heard within all the
'political' parties and groups in the UK and globally? Because in my
experiences and research we are 'excluded' by all of them.
Our disabled 'voices' are also 'excluded' and (mis)represented by all the
'mainstream' media too. I have not been duly impressed how all disability
issues have beem (mis)represented and 'excluded' within the
'independent-media' too. They are no better than the 'mainstream' media in
my own indepedent and impartial research.
WHY?
