ESRC Project - 'Creativity and performativity in teaching and learning' (CAPITAL) - conducted jointly by The Open University and Roehampton University.
A part-time researcher - 70% minimum - is required for ethnographic research, over two years, into the effects of policies of performance and creative teaching and learning on primary teachers, learners, parents and significant others and how they manage the implementation and dissemination of these policies.
The ideal person will have a Masters degree or/and a PhD in Education or Social Science and be willing to conduct qualitative fieldwork involving informal interviewing and observation. The Research Assistant will be involved in: reviews of the literature; data collection and analysis; report/journal article writing; preparing conference papers. The ideal candidate will have knowledge of policy and processes of primary schooling and be able to relate to a range of personnel in the research schools. S/he will be able to be pro-active, well organised, able to establish priorities and meet deadlines, have very good spoken and written English, interpersonal and ICT skills.
