The third Charles Parker Day conference is now open for booking. 7 April,
2006, 11.00am - 5.00pm. The day, which will be held at Bournemouth's
Miramar Hotel, is hosted by the Centre for Broadcasting History Research,
Bournemouth Media School, Bournemouth University, and will feature the
following speakers:
* Gillian Reynolds/Sian Roberts on the Charles Parker Archive and
the Connecting histories project at Birmingham Central Library
* Ken Hall on Charles Parker, before and after the Radio Ballads
* Kate MCall on the legendary American producer, Norman Corwin,
whose work influenced Parker
* Sara Parker and John Tams on the project to create a new set of
Radio Ballads this spring
* Graeme Miles on personal memories of working with Parker
* Andy Cartwright on the "Then-Now" radio poem experiment
* Sean Street on vernacular radio and social history in Newfoundland
* Simon Elmes, adjudicating the second Charles Parker Award for
Student Radio Features.
Refreshments - including lunch - will be provided. There is an
administration fee of £10.00, payable to Bournemouth University. You can
