Hi Paul,
If you remember I emailed you last September with the telephone number of
Mitch Warburton who is the authority on Simms engines here in North Devon if
anyone is. He can give you full information regarding the Simms engine at
Knap Down Mine (Girt Down).
I understand from Mitch that you have not contacted him. Unfortunately he is
not on email.
Kindest regards,
Trevor

Subject: Sims type engine at Gourt Mine
Can anyone tell me about the Sims combined cylinders engine that was
once installed at Gourt Mine, Devon please?
According to the Mining History Web site it was an all-indoor engine
employed for both pumping and winding duties.
Indeed, I should be interested to learn from anyone who has studied
either the design of Sims type engines, especially as employed in mining
environments, or researched buildings or sites they were employed in.
