not sure if Writing : : Digital Knowledge info has made it to wdl (scroll
down for info) ... also, it's also worth noting that darren tofts book,
interzone, has been out since late last year - it is a survey of media art
practices in australia (info below). it includes a chapter on
digital/interactive writing and narrative. one of the few books (that's not
an exhibition catalogue) about a range of media practices in this country.
it was even reviewed in a major newspaper ... cheers. linda

interzone
MEDIA ARTS IN AUSTRALIA
By Darren Tofts
interzone presents the first comprehensive overview of the development of
media arts culture in Australia. It critically discusses the work of
established and emerging media artists and the contexts out of which their
work has developed.
interzone explores, through the work of more than 70 artists, the emergence
of key concepts such as interactivity, interface and immersion. It is
wide-ranging in its attention to aesthetic forms that have developed in
relation to computer-based media, such as net art, virtual reality
environments, digital video, multimedia installation and interactive
fiction. Published in November by Thames & Hudson Australia.

The conference brings together researchers concerned with the creation and

nature of knowledge work -- or how will it?
* How is writing a form of knowledge work? (Is it?)
* What issues, problems, questions face researchers studying the effects of
the digital economy on writing practices?
Presenters will focus on how writing relates to the knowledge economy and
knowledge work, issues of culture and identity, and related public policy
challenges.
The conference begins on Thursday evening, April 6th, with a keynote
presentation by Barbara Mirel, followed by three plenary sessions on Friday,
April 7th. Plenty of time for questions, conversation, and interaction is
