O ymlwybro'n ddyfal drwy'r ddogfen, wele ddiffiniad:
"Aspirational Mentoring is a project set up by 'Reaching Higher – Reaching
Wider' to work with children whose families have no previous experience of
Higher Education and so are often not in the best position to offer support
and encouragement in this respect to their children. Aspirational Mentoring
is a project for children in year 7 of secondary schools.
Mentors are recruited from the higher education students in the colleges
and universities. Mentors are provided with training in working with the
children (one full day or two half days) and a full police check.
Mentors are allocated to a school in two ways; it is geographically close
to their homes or the days & times of the sessions fit into their other
commitments.
Over the last three years, Aspirational Mentoring projects have been very
successful. Many children have reconsidered their career choices... [and]
have also decided that they would like to study at higher education level
and that they do not always need to go away to university to study their
choice of course.
This has also been well received by parents who previously thought that
higher education was 'not for people like us', that their children do not
need to move away from home, pay huge amounts for accommodation, perhaps
not look after themselves properly and eventually leave university with a
massive debt."
Cynllun cymeradwy iawn, er bod rhywun yn synnu braidd at y syniad o blant
blwyddyn 7 ('Fform Wan' yn fy nyddiau i) yn ailystyried eu dewisiadau
gyrfaol. Biti bod sylfaenwyr y drefn wedi baglu ar y ffens gyntaf trwy
fathu teitl mor jargonaidd.
Ia, blwyddyn newydd eiriaduregol a blew-holltiol dda i bawb!
Wyn
O.N. 'Mentora Dyheadol' yr ydw i'n bwriadu ei ddefnyddio, oni bai bod
rhywun wedi bethu cyfieithiad gwahanol yn barod.
