Hi Jon,
I have my own VLE (I do/customise what/how ever I
want, mostly play :) and I work with the Greek Schools
Network VLE using moodle. To my opinon, it depends on
what the stakeholders need. If they need a
short/custmisable course (from a company, organisation
etc) on a specific subject (lets say PHP and
algorithms programming) then my VLE would be perfect.
and if there is a big organisation like a national
organisation, then the system needs to have (other
than information) internal consinstency, visibility of
the different parts, interactivity, 'control', support
and evaluation, and most important, sustainability of
the potential community. to acieve the latter, a
dedicated technical and research group is needed. This
is an answer from a freelance consultant like me.
People working for organisations/business might have
different answers.
best wishes for a lovely w/d to all,
niki
