*** FINAL CALL FOR PAPERS ***
1st International Virtual Manufacturing Workshop (VirMan'06)
(http://www.macs.hw.ac.uk/VirMan06/)
in conjunction with the
IEEE Virtual Reality Conference 2006
(http://www.vr2006.org/)
Virginia, USA, 25 or 26 March 2006
*Workshop Description*
There has now been well over a decade of applied experience of, and
research into, virtual reality technologies relating to manufacturing
processes. This work has been characterised by a diverse range of
interested engineering specialisms. It has also seen the rise and fall
of a number of vendors, yet the nature and extent of sustained uptake by
industry is still unclear.
The goal of this workshop is to provide an opportunity for researchers
and industry practitioners to explore both the state-of-the art and the
state-of-the-practice in virtual reality manufacturing and design
systems, approaches and economics.
*Topics of interest* include, but are not limited to:
* standards for interoperation
* applications
* integration
* benchmarks and comparisons
* historical reflections
* return on investment
* simulation and training
* design support
* process planning
* machining
* assembly
*Keynote Speaker*
Sankar Jayaram, Washington State University, USA.
*Important Dates*
* Abstract submissions by 20th January 2006.
* Review decisions expected by 27th January 2006.
* The full day workshop will take place on either 25th or 26th March
2006.
*Submission Guidelines*

text email; not as an attachment. Please include a title, list of
authors and their affiliations and the full coordinates of the
corresponding author. In addition, please use the subject line VirMan06
in your email.
After the workshop, selected authors may be invited to submit full
papers for inclusion in a special issue of a relevant journal.
