BUIRA 2006 ANNUAL CONFERENCE
British Universities Industrial Relations Association
Wednesday 28th June ā Friday 30th June: National University of Ireland, Galway
Call for Papers and Posters
Papers
Papers can be on any topic likely to be of interest to BUIRA members and can be purely theoretical or based on empirical research. We would, however, like to encourage papers on the following 7 themes:
A. Partnership and Productivity
B. Welfare Regimes and Public Service Delivery
C. Employee Representation and Voice
D. Equality and Inequality in Work and Employment
E. International & Comparative IR
F. HRM and Employment Regulation in SMEs
G. Other
Most papers are presented as workshop papers. Papers may, however, be considered for a plenary session (preferably related to one of the above themes). Please indicate on your abstract if you would like it to be considered as a plenary session. Papers are welcomed from current postgraduate students. The deadline for receipt of 1000 word abstracts is 24th March 2006. The abstract should indicate the substantive content of the paper together with findings and conclusions. It should include statements relating to relevance, origins and methodology of the research. The status of the paper should also be specified, in particular whether it has been submitted or accepted for publication or is to be delivered at another conference. For obvious reasons we prefer papers not to have appeared in print before being presented at BUIRA. Please indicate the theme under which you wish to give your paper or classify it as āGā (other). Please put your identification details on a page separate from the abstract.
Posters
Poster sessions at the BUIRA Conference provide the opportunity for researchers, including PhD students, to present their findings in an informal setting. This enables research at different stages to be presented to delegates who will be able to provide feedback, offer advice, compare results and discuss future research. Posters should highlight the main findings or ideas involved in the research. Presenters may wish to have a brief paper available, although this is not required. If you wish to present a poster please provide a 500 word abstract by 24th March 2006.
NOTE:Papers can only be considered from BUIRA members.
Abstracts of papers and posters should be sent, preferably by e-mail, to:
Kylie Dursley, Bristol Business School, University of the West of England, Frenchay Campus, Bristol BS16 1QY, UK ([log in to unmask])
Abstracts are blind refereed by BUIRA Executive Committee Members. Decisions are notified in April. Conference proceedings will include longer abstracts (2,500 words) of workshop papers and full plenary papers (5-7,000 words). These will be required by mid-May. Selected Papers will be published in a Special Edition of Industrial Relations Journal.
