Dear All/GridPP,
I have been further improving the YAIM default install. I am afraid I am not 100% happy as this new revision takes considerably longer to run. This is mainly due to my conflicting desire to keep the bash code simple which I feel is essential for speedy support rather than performance which although nice in an installation system is not strictly necessary.
The delay is caused by the script restarting pnfs every time I add a new database to the pnfs system. I may try to minimise the number of PNFS restarts but this is as yet untested and release is getting near so only thoroughly tested code gets released.
As usual the system installs on the same base OS
TO set your apt sources for a test please execute the following lines,
echo 'rpm http://storage.esc.rl.ac.uk/ apt/datastore/sl3.0.4 testing' \
> /etc/apt/sources.list.d/gpp_storage.list
echo 'rpm http://grid-deployment.web.cern.ch/grid-deployment/gis apt/LCG-2_6_0/sl3/en/i386 lcg_sl3 lcg_sl3.updates' \
> /etc/apt/sources.list.d/lcg.list
echo 'rpm http://grid-deployment.web.cern.ch/grid-deployment/gis apt/LCG_CA/en/i386 lcg' \
> /etc/apt/sources.list.d/lcg-ca.list
apt-get update
apt-get install lcg-yaim
then setup site-info.def file.
/opt/lcg/yaim/scripts/install_node ${PATH_TO_ADMIN_SPACE}/site-info.def SE_dcache
and note for pools
/opt/lcg/yaim/scripts/install_node ${PATH_TO_ADMIN_SPACE}/site-info.def SE_dcache_pool
which does not install the world (To quote an old Yaim D-cache concern)
If you want D-Cache to install based upon pnfs-postgresql install this package using apt-get at the latest now but this can be done at any stage of installation.
followed by
/opt/lcg/yaim/scripts/configure_node ${PATH_TO_ADMIN_SPACE}/site-info.def ${TARGET}
For anyone who reviews this release please bare in mind that I currently see my deployment priorities as
1: Fix all issues that are found with respect to Scientific Linux 4.1 (thanks Mathias)
2: Put new D-Cache information pluggin into Yaim (A lot easier I hope than the pnfs Databases)
3: Ask LHC deployment what to do next.
If any of you have other suggested priorities please email me with them and I shall try and accommodate your issues as well.
Regards
Owen
